Initial Setup Guide

Atto makes it easy to track time, manage teams, and streamline operations. This guide walks you through the core setup steps so you can get your company account up and running quickly.


Step 1: Create Your Account


Only the Account Owner can create the company account.

To get started:

  1. Click Try for Free

  2. Enter and confirm your email

  3. Click Create Account and complete your profile:

    • Full name

    • Company name

    • Industry

    • Password

Free Trial Details:

  • Your 14-day trial starts immediately after sign-up

  • No credit card is required

  • You can invite your entire team and explore all features without limitations


Step 2: Invite Your Team

Team members can join via email invite or a direct link.

Invite by Email:

  • Go to Settings > Invite New Members

  • Enter each team member’s email address

  • Tap Send Invites

    They’ll receive an email with a link to create their account.

Invite via Link:

  • Go to Settings > Invite New Members

  • Tap Share your invite link…

  • Share the link directly

    They’ll be prompted to enter their email and create their account.

Step 3: Customize Your Company Settings

Atto’s settings allow you to tailor time tracking, reports, and location preferences to fit your company’s needs.

Location Tracking

Define when location data is recorded:

  • While on the Clock – Continuous tracking during shifts

  • On Clock In/Out Only – Location is captured only at clock in/out

  • Never – No location data is collected


Workweek & Overtime

Set your standard work hours and overtime rules:

  • Define weekly and daily thresholds

  • Set double-overtime limits and rate multipliers


Timesheet Reporting

Align timesheet reports with your payroll cycle:

  • Select a reporting frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, etc.)

  • Enable automatic delivery of reports to selected email addresses


Time Options

Manage how time is recorded across your team:

  • Sync with each user’s time zone or set a fixed one for all

  • Customize rounding rules and grouping for entries


Break Settings

Choose how breaks are handled:

  • Manual – Team members log their own breaks

  • Automatic – Breaks are deducted based on rules

  • Custom – Use multiple break types (e.g. lunch, paid)

  • Advanced – Combine auto breaks with custom logic


Scheduling (New Feature)


Build and manage shift schedules for your team:

  • Set visibility rules to show only personal shifts or the full team schedule


Mileage Tracking

Enable employees to track work-related travel:

  • Choose between automatic or manual logging

  • Set a reimbursement rate per mile/kilometer

  • Allow tracking of tolls and parking fees

  • Choose between miles or kilometers


Step 4: Assign Roles and Set Pay Rates

User roles determine access to data and features. Pay rates are used to calculate estimates in Reports.

Available Roles

  • Admin – Full access to settings and user management

  • Manager – Manages their team’s hours, shifts, and reports

  • Employee – Tracks their own hours and views personal reports

To assign roles:

  • Go to Settings > Manage Team

  • Select a team member

  • Choose a role from the dropdown

  • Tap Save Changes

To add pay rates:

  • Enable Pay Rate for the team member

  • Tap Add Pay Rate

  • Enter the hourly rate and effective date

  • Tap Save


Frequently Asked Questions

What is my username for Atto?

Your username is the email you used to sign up.

Can I set individual settings for team members?

Yes, roles and permissions can be tailored per user.

Can I set reminders for clock in/out?

Yes. You can set personalized reminders to help you and your team stay on track.

When does Atto track my location?

Atto only tracks location after someone clocks in. Location data is never collected outside of work hours.

Can I change my company’s time zone later?

Yes. You can update your time zone anytime by going to Settings > Time Options. This controls how time entries are displayed for your team.

What happens if I invite someone with the wrong role?

You can change a team member’s role anytime under Settings > Manage Team. Just select their name, update their role, and save.

What if a team member didn’t receive the invite?

Have them check their spam or junk folder. Also, make sure your account has enough available seats. If all seats are used up, new invites won’t go through. You can add more seats under Settings > Subscription.

Do I need to configure everything before inviting my team?

No. You can invite your team first and fine-tune features like pay rates, tracking settings, and scheduling later.

Can I test all features during the free trial?

Yes. All features are fully available during your 14-day trial—including scheduling, location tracking, and mileage tracking.

Will I lose data if I don’t subscribe right after the trial?

No. Your data stays safe. You can subscribe later and pick up where you left off.
