Manage Location Tracking Preferences

Updated this week

Atto gives you flexible options to configure how location tracking works across your team. These settings help you balance accountability, privacy, and operational insight — depending on your workflow needs.

Setting Location Tracking Preferences

To configure how location tracking works across your company:

  1. Go to Settings > Location Tracking

  2. Choose one of the following options:

While on the Clock

  • Tracks user location in real time throughout the workday

  • Requires device permissions set to “Always”

  • Ideal for field teams or jobs requiring continuous visibility

On Clock In/Out Only

  • Tracks location only at clock in and clock out

  • Requires device permissions set to “While Using the App”

  • Good for teams who only need entry/exit verification

Never

  • Disables location tracking completely

  • No location permissions will be required from users

Enable User-Specific Location Tracking

If your team setup requires different tracking preferences for different roles or individuals, you can enable User-Specific Tracking.

  • Customize location settings for each team member based on their responsibilities

  • Ensure each user has the right setup for their role, without applying a one-size-fits-all policy

Important Note for Team Members

For “While on the Clock” or “On Clock In/Out Only” to work:

  • Users must enable location services for Atto on their devices

  • Location access is required for clocking in/out, job switching, and break tracking
