Your Guide to Atto's Location Tracking Feature

Atto provides real-time location tracking capabilities to enhance employee safety, accountability, and transparency. Account administrators can choose from three location tracking options to suit their specific needs:

1. Real-time Tracking: With this option, Atto continuously monitors the user's location while they are on the clock. This includes tracking travel routes and generating comprehensive location history reports that provide detailed insights into time spent at job sites, time spent on the move, and travel routes taken.
2. Clock In/Out Tracking: In this mode, Atto records the user's location only when they clock in and clock out. This information is then added to their timesheet data.
3. No Tracking: If location tracking is not required, account administrators can disable it entirely. In this case, users can clock in and out without sharing any location data.

GPS Tracking and Privacy

In all instances, to ensure complete privacy and security, as soon as a user clocks out or is on a break, location tracking stops completely and no location data is shared between the device, Atto's servers or account admins. Enabling GPS Tracking on User Devices

For GPS tracking to function effectively, users need to grant Atto access to their device's location services. The process for enabling location access varies depending on the device's operating system: 

iOS Devices:

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Navigate to Privacy > Location Services.
3. Select Atto from the list of apps.
4. Set Allow Location Access to "Always" or "While Using," depending on your account's settings.
5. Enable "Precise Location" to enhance tracking accuracy.

Android Devices:

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Access Security & Location > Location.
   1. If you don't see "Security & location," tap Location.
   2. If you have a work profile, before tapping Location, tap Advanced.
3. Go to App Level Permissions.
4. Select Atto from the list of apps.
5. Set location access to "Allow all the time" or "Allow only while using the app," depending on your account's settings.

Enhancing Location Tracking Accuracy

For optimal location tracking accuracy, users are encouraged to turn on Wi-Fi or allow their devices to scan for Wi-Fi networks. Scanning for Wi-Fi signals helps refine the device's location more precisely.
