Your Guide to Atto's Location Tracking Feature

Atto offers flexible location tracking options to support team accountability, safety, and accurate reporting. Admins can choose between three tracking modes depending on business needs and privacy preferences.


Location Tracking Options

1. Real-Time Tracking

Continuously tracks a team member’s location while on the clock.

Includes:

  • Time spent at job sites

  • Time on the move

  • Travel route history

2. Clock In/Out Tracking

Records a team member’s location only at clock-in and clock-out.

This data is saved to the user’s timesheet.

3. No Tracking

Disables all location tracking.

Users can clock in/out without sharing their location.


Location Tracking & Privacy

Atto values your team’s privacy.

  • Tracking stops the moment a user clocks out or takes a break.

  • No background tracking occurs when a user is off the clock.

  • No data is shared with admins unless a user is actively working.

How to Enable Location Access on Devices


To use any location tracking mode, team members must grant Atto permission to access their device’s location services.

iOS Devices

  • Open the Settings app

  • Go to Privacy > Location Services

  • Select Atto

  • Set access to “Always” or “While Using the App” (based on your account settings)

  • Enable “Precise Location”

Android Devices

  • Open the Settings app

  • Tap Security & Location > Location (or just Location)

  • If you have a work profile, first tap Advanced

  • Tap App Permissions

  • Select Atto

  • Set access to “Allow all the time” or “Allow only while using the app”


Improving Tracking Accuracy

  • Turn on Wi-Fi or allow devices to scan for Wi-Fi networks

  • This improves GPS precision, especially in areas with poor signal
