Delete or revert an invoice to Draft

Revert an invoice when you need to make changes, or permanently delete it when you no longer need the invoice record.

Before you begin

Invoices can be saved as a Draft at any time during creation. Users with the appropriate permission can edit Draft invoices.

After an invoice leaves Draft, it can’t be edited. An Admin must revert the invoice to Draft before changes can be made. These updates are recorded in the invoice’s activity history.

Choose the right action

  • Revert to Draft returns an invoice to Draft so it can be edited.

  • Delete Invoice permanently removes the invoice and can’t be undone.

Revert an invoice to Draft

Only an Admin can revert an invoice to Draft.

  1. Open the invoice.

  2. Select the … button.

  3. Select Revert to Draft.

  4. Review the confirmation message.

  5. Select Confirm.

The invoice returns to Draft. Users with the appropriate permission can then edit it before it is finalized and sent again.

Delete an invoice

  1. Open the invoice.

  2. Select the … button.

  3. Select Delete Invoice.

  4. Review the confirmation message.

  5. Select Delete.

Deleting an invoice is permanent and can’t be undone. If you need to keep the invoice in your records but make it non-payable, void it instead.
