Understanding How Breaks Are Applied:
Breaks in Atto are applied based on your preset rules, but it’s important to understand how they work:
1. Breaks Are Added After Clock-Out:
Break hours won’t appear while the user is clocked in. Instead, breaks are automatically added to the time card after the user clocks out. This way, Atto can review the total hours worked and apply breaks based on the set thresholds. This process only takes a few seconds once the user clocks out.
2. Thresholds Are Per Time Card:
Break rules are applied separately for each time card. If the user clocks out and clocks back in later the same day, the break calculation starts over for the new session. For example:
•If a 30-minute break is set to apply after 4 hours of work and the user works 3 hours before clocking out, no break will be deducted.
•When the user clocks back in, the system starts fresh, and only after the user works another 4 hours will the 30-minute break be deducted.
This ensures that breaks are applied correctly for each individual work session.
Tips for Managing Breaks:
•Multiple Break Rules: Set different break rules for various employee groups.
•Compliance: Make sure your break settings comply with local labor laws to stay compliant.
By understanding that breaks are applied after clock-out and that thresholds are calculated per time card, you can ensure Atto manages breaks correctly and in line with your company’s policies. This method helps streamline payroll and ensures accuracy in break tracking.
