Atto's GPS tracking feature is a valuable tool for monitoring employee location and ensuring accountability. However, there may be instances where a user's location is not updating properly. If you encounter such issues, follow the troubleshooting tips below for the respective device operating system:

Troubleshooting on iOS Devices

  1. Enable Location Services: Verify that location services are enabled for all apps on the device. To do so, navigate to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and ensure that the toggle is switched to the "On" position.
  2. Grant Location Access to Atto: Specifically grant location access to the Atto app. Open Settings > Select Atto from the list of apps > Tap on Location > Set allow location access to "Always."
  3. Enable Precise Location (iOS 14 or later): For enhanced location accuracy, enable Precise Location for Atto. Go to Settings > Select Atto from the list of apps > Tap on Location > Enable "Precise Location."
  4. Enable Cellular Data: Ensure that cellular data is enabled for both the device and the Atto app. Open Settings > Cellular and check that both "Cellular Data" and cellular data for Atto are switched to the "On" position.
  5. Enable Wi-Fi: Even if not actively connected, having Wi-Fi enabled can improve location accuracy. Check that Wi-Fi is turned on and connected to a network.
  6. Avoid Force-Quitting Atto: Force-quitting the Atto app by swiping it off the screen or using battery/memory boosting apps can disrupt location tracking.
  7. Disable Low Power Mode: Low power mode can restrict background app activity, potentially affecting location updates. Go to Settings > Battery and ensure that Low Power Mode is disabled.
  8. Enable Background App Refresh: Background app refresh allows Atto to continue tracking location even when not actively in use. Navigate to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and ensure that Background App Refresh is ON for "WiFi & Cellular Data" and enabled for Atto.

Troubleshooting on Android Devices

  1. Enable Location Services: Ensure that location services are enabled on the device. Access Settings > Location and enable the Location option.
  2. Set Location Mode to High Accuracy: For optimal location accuracy, set the location mode to High Accuracy. Go to Settings > Security & Location > Tap "Advanced" and then "Google Location Accuracy" if available. Verify that "High Accuracy" is selected.
  3. Grant Location Access to Atto: Allow Atto to access your location data. Open Settings > Applications > Atto > Permissions and enable the Location option.
  4. Set Location Access to "Allowed all the time" (Android 10 or later): Ensure precise location tracking by setting location access to "Allowed all the time" for Atto. Go to Settings > Location > Select Atto from the list and make sure "Allowed all the time" is selected.
  5. Enable Cellular Data: Verify that cellular data is enabled for the device. Access Settings > Network and confirm that "Mobile Data" or "Cellular Data" is switched to the "On" position.
  6. Enable Wi-Fi: An active Wi-Fi connection can enhance location accuracy, even when not connected to the internet. Check that Wi-Fi is turned on and connected to a network.
  7. Disable Battery Optimizers: Disable battery optimizers that may be preventing Atto from running in the background and affecting location updates. Battery optimizer settings are typically found in the battery settings page.
  8. Disable Data Saver Restriction: Disable data saver settings that may be restricting Atto's background data usage. Look for phrases like "Data Saver," "Set Mobile Data Limit," or "Restrict Background Data" in the Settings app and ensure they are turned OFF for Atto.
  9. Exempt Atto from Auto-Cleanup Settings: Prevent Atto from being automatically cleaned up by the system. Ensure that Atto is exempt from any auto-cleanup settings or third-party auto-clean apps.
  10. Allow Atto to Auto-Start: Enable auto-start for Atto to ensure it launches automatically when the device boots up. Some devices may restrict app auto-start. Check that Atto is exempt from this restriction.

By following these troubleshooting steps, you can effectively resolve GPS tracking issues and ensure that user locations are updated accurately and in real-time.
