Atto's real-time location tracking feature relies on several factors to provide accurate and timely updates. If a team member's location is not updating in real-time, it could be due to one or more of the following reasons:

Connectivity Issues

  • Internet Connection: A stable internet connection, either Wi-Fi or cellular data, is essential for location data transmission and updates. If the team member's device has a weak or unstable internet connection, location updates may be delayed or fail to occur.
  • Background App Refresh: Ensure that background app refresh is enabled for the Atto app on the team member's device. This setting allows Atto to continue tracking location even when the app is not actively in use.

Account Status and Permissions

  • Logged Out: Verify that the team member is still logged into their Atto account while on the clock. If they have logged out or been accidentally logged out, location tracking will cease.

  • User Settings: Review the team member's Atto settings to ensure they have not disabled location tracking for themselves.

Device-Related Issues

  • Airplane Mode: Airplane mode disables all wireless connections, including cellular data and Wi-Fi, preventing Atto from accessing location data. Ensure that airplane mode is turned off on the team member's device.
  • Low Battery: A device running critically low on battery may experience performance issues, including delayed or interrupted location updates. Encourage the team member to charge their device to ensure optimal performance.
  • Power Off or Restart: If the team member's device has run out of power or been unexpectedly restarted, location tracking will be paused until the device is turned back on and the Atto app is relaunched.
  • Device Temperature: Extreme temperatures, either too hot or too cold, can affect the functioning of a device's internal components, potentially impacting location tracking accuracy and timely updates.

Additional Considerations

  • Stationary Location: If a team member is stationary within a job site or specific location for an extended period, their location updates may be less frequent. This is because Atto prioritizes updating location data when there is a significant change in movement.
  • GPS Signal Strength: In areas with weak or limited GPS signal coverage, location updates may be delayed or less accurate. Encourage the team member to move to an area with better GPS reception if possible.

By addressing these potential causes, you can ensure that your team members' locations are updated accurately and in real-time, providing valuable insights into their work activities.
