How Atto Determines Your Mileage Reimbursement

Updated over a month ago

Mileage tracking in Atto is designed to make business travel reimbursements simple and transparent. Here’s how the value of each drive is calculated.

1. Set Your Mileage Rate

The mileage rate determines how much you’re reimbursed per mile or kilometer driven. This can be:

  • A custom rate set by your company

  • The default IRS rate (if no custom rate is entered)

You can review or update the mileage rate anytime in your Mileage Tracking settings.

2. Measure Your Distance

Atto supports two ways to track distance:

  • Automatic GPS Tracking

Records the distance in real time using your device’s GPS.

  • Manual Entry

Enter your start and end locations manually—Atto calculates the distance based on the route.

3. Mileage Reimbursement Calculation

Once a drive is logged, the app calculates the total value by multiplying the distance by the mileage rate.

Example

  • Mileage Rate: $0.67 per mile

  • Trip Distance: 10 miles

  • Drive Value: 10 × $0.67 = $6.70

This value is recorded and included in reports for reimbursements.

Tips for Accurate Mileage Tracking

  • Enable location services for precise GPS tracking

  • Review drive details to confirm distances and route accuracy

  • Keep your rate updated to reflect company policy or IRS standards

Manual tracking is also available if GPS isn’t active—just enter your locations, and Atto does the rest.
