Understanding Time Card Entry Overlaps

Updated over a month ago

Atto helps maintain accurate time records by preventing time card overlaps. This ensures that no two entries conflict, keeping work hours clean and compliant.

What is a Time Card Overlap?

A time card entry overlap occurs when a new or edited time card has clock-in or clock-out times that conflict with another entry on the same day.

How Atto Alerts You

If an overlap is detected:

  • An error message will appear, showing which entry is causing the conflict.

  • You’ll be able to view the existing time card for more context.

  • You’ll need to adjust the new or edited entry’s times to remove the conflict before saving.

How to Prevent Overlaps

To avoid time card entry conflicts:

  • Review existing entries for the same day before adding or editing time cards.

  • Double-check clock-in and clock-out times to ensure they reflect actual hours worked.

  • Breaks and jobs must fit within clock-in/out times:

    • Breaks cannot start before clock-in or end after clock-out.

    • Jobs must start and end within work hours, and not during break times.
