Year-End and Tax Season Considerations

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Atto files your company’s annual payroll taxes and takes care of generating and distributing all required year-end tax forms. Here’s what to expect — and how to prepare — as the calendar year comes to a close.

What Happens at Year-End

  • Annual Tax Filing

Atto uses the payroll information in your account to automatically calculate, pay, and file all applicable federal, state, and local taxes at the start of the new year.

  • Tax Info Review

Before filing, we’ll ask a few questions to verify key tax details in your account. Please review and answer carefully to ensure smooth filing.

  • Missing Information

If anything is incomplete or unclear, you’ll receive an email with next steps. Follow the instructions in that email to update your Atto account as soon as possible.

Tax Form Distribution

  • W-2s and 1099s

Atto generates W-2 forms for employees and 1099 forms for contractors paid through Atto in the previous calendar year.

  • Available in January

Once tax filings are complete, forms will be made available to your team in their Atto account.

  • Distribution Options

    You can:

    • Download and share the forms manually, or

    • Choose to have Atto mail the forms directly to your team.
