Troubleshooting Common Scheduling Issues

Updated over 2 months ago

Atto’s Scheduling feature is designed for simplicity, but occasional issues may come up. This guide covers the most common scheduling problems and how to resolve them quickly to keep your team’s schedule accurate and on track.

1. Overlapping Shifts

Issue: A new shift overlaps with another shift already assigned to the same user.

Common overlap scenarios:

  • The new shift is fully within another shift’s duration

  • The start or end time of the new shift overlaps with another shift

Solution:

When an overlap is detected, Atto will alert the admin and identify the affected user and shifts. To resolve:

  • Adjust the start or end time of one of the shifts

  • Reassign the shift to a different team member

  • Delete the overlapping shift if it’s not needed

2. Scheduled Time Off Conflicts

Issue: A shift is scheduled for a team member who has approved time off on that date.

Solution:

Atto will notify you of any time-off conflicts. To resolve:

  • Reschedule the shift

  • Assign the shift to another employee

  • Remove the time-off entry if it was added in error

3. Shift Visibility Issues

Issue: Employees can’t see certain shifts or the full team schedule.

Solution:

Check your Schedule Visibility settings:

  • My Shifts Only – Employees see only their assigned shifts

  • Full Schedule View – Employees can view the entire team’s shifts

Make sure the correct visibility setting is selected based on your team’s needs.

4. Missed Notifications for Shift Changes

Issue: Employees didn’t receive alerts about new or updated shifts.

Solution:

  • Confirm that notifications are enabled in Atto’s settings

  • Ask employees to check their device-level notification settings and ensure Atto is allowed to send alerts

5. Clock-In Outside Allowed Time Window

Issue: Employees receive an error when clocking in too early or too late compared to the shift start time.

Solution:

  • Review the Clock-In Restrictions in the admin settings

  • Adjust the clock-in window if needed

  • Remind employees of the allowed clock-in timeframe

6. Shift Trade or Cover Requests Not Updating

Issue: An employee is unable to request a shift trade or cover, or their request is not visible or updating in real time.

Solution:

  • Ensure that the Shift Request Permissions (Trade, Cover) are enabled in the admin settings

  • Confirm that both the requester and receiver have accepted the request to complete the shift change

These solutions should help you quickly resolve the most common scheduling issues and keep your team on track.
