How Breaks Are Applied in Atto
1. Breaks Are Applied After Clock-Out
Breaks don’t show while someone is clocked in
Once the user clocks out, Atto reviews the total time and applies break rules
This happens automatically within a few seconds
2. Breaks Apply Per Time Card
Each clock-in/out session is treated separately
Break thresholds reset with each new session
Example:
A user works 3 hours, then clocks out → No break is applied
When they clock in again, the break rule starts over
After 4 more hours of work in the new session, the 30-minute break is applied
Tips for Managing Breaks
Use Multiple Rules
Apply different break rules for different teams or roles
Stay Compliant
Make sure your break rules align with local labor regulations
By understanding how and when breaks are applied, you can confidently configure Atto’s break preferences to match your company’s policies and streamline payroll with accurate time entries.
