Managing Job Codes and Pay Rates

Updated over a month ago

Atto’s job codes and job-specific pay rates help you track compensation based on the type of work performed — giving you better visibility into labor costs and more accurate payroll management.

Understanding the Difference

  • Job Codes: Used to categorize different types of work or tasks

  • Job-Specific Pay Rates: Custom hourly rates assigned to specific job codes for each team member

When used together, they allow you to apply job-specific pay rates that reflect the actual work performed.

How to Set Up Job-Specific Pay Rates

  1. Go to Settings > Pay Rate

  2. Select the team member

  3. Make sure Pay Rate is toggled ON

  4. Click “Add a Job Pay Rate”

  5. Choose a Job Code

  6. Enter the hourly rate and start date

  7. Click Save

📌 A default pay rate must be set before you can assign job-specific pay rates.

Managing Job Pay Rates

  • Edit: Update job pay rates to reflect compensation changes

  • Update: Adjust which job codes are associated with specific rates

  • Delete: Remove old job pay rates to keep records up to date

You can assign multiple job-specific pay rates per employee — each tied to a different job code.

Why Use Job Codes with Job Pay Rates?

  • Job-Based Compensation

  • Pay employees accurately based on the job code they work on

  • Project Cost Tracking

  • Understand labor costs across different types of work

  • Budgeting and Reporting

  • Improve financial planning with detailed reports by job code and rate
