How Atto Handles 7-Day Overtime

Updated over a month ago

Understanding and managing 7-day overtime is essential for ensuring fair pay and staying compliant with labor laws. Atto helps simplify this process with clear rules, automatic calculations, and accurate tracking.

What Is 7-Day Overtime?

Atto supports three common types of overtime:

  • Daily Overtime

Extra pay applies when an employee works more than 8 hours in a single day.

  • Weekly Overtime

Triggered when total work hours exceed 40 hours in a week.

  • 7th Consecutive Day Overtime

Additional pay applies if someone works on the seventh consecutive day within a defined workweek.

Choosing the Start of Your Workweek

To apply 7-day rules correctly, you must define the start day of your workweek in Atto. This sets the boundaries for how overtime is calculated across the week.

| Example: If your workweek starts on Monday, the 7-day rule would apply if someone works every day from Monday through Sunday.
